First opened in 1912 as the town's first picture house to 400 guests, although it has since become mush more than a cinema as it also boasts a restaurant, stage and bar area. It does still have a cinema and has made sure it maintains its art deco style and retro film roots.
Former resident of Northamptonshire famous DJ Jo Wiley chose to return to the Picturedrome in Radio 1's DJs Go Home segment. The indie rock band Athlete acommopanied her and performed an acoustic set at the venue to a packed out crowd..
The Picturedrome doesn't just host rock concerts it is also a regular venue for tea parties for the elderly, Jazz nights, Rock, DJs, Indie, Motown, Soul, Death Metal... aswell as a platform to showcase the best of Northamptonshire's new local bands and retro artists.
The venue was nominated for Music Pub Of The Year in 2006 but narrowly missed out on the prize. The nomination was a well deserved recognition and acknowledgement of the venue's eclectic and contemporary music taste and was up against musical venues throughout the country.
