The nickname Cobblers is named after the town's thriving shoe industry of the past. Northampton Town play in the lowest professional league division Coca Cola League Two. After being relegated from Coca Cola League One after losing to Leeds United on the final day of the league season.
The Northamptonshire county also hosts other excellent professional football teams including Rushden & Diamonds and Kettering Town a league below Northampton's in the Blue Square Premier and a recently rejuvenated Corby Town a league down again in The Blue Square North.
The Sixfields stadium is located within a leisure park that also includes a cinema, 2 pubs, and various fast food restaurants. Parking can be very busy if Northampton Saints are also playing at home on the same day.
